Dr. James Tumwine is a Makerere University trained community pediatrician and health advocate with a PhD from the University of Bergen, Norway. As chair to the MakCHS Research and Graduate Committee, Tumwine coordinates research and graduate training in addition to chairing the Higher Degrees, Research, and Ethics Committees at the MakCHS School of Medicine. He is founder Editor in Chief of African Health Sciences Uganda’s MEDLINE/PUBMED/SI/ BIOLINE/AJOL/HINARI/indexed journal. With a flair for original research, he is PI of several research initiatives supported by the EU, Swedish, Norwegian, Canadian and US agencies; and has over 120 publications. He is professor of Pediatrics and Child Health and has a passion for teaching: spending 50% of his time training undergraduate, as well as Masters, doctorate, and post doc fellows. He has chaired several boards including the Joint Medical Stores, Kabale University Council and the Forum for African Medical Editors (FAME).
