Dr. Vincent Ojoome joined African Centre for Global Health and Social Transformation (ACHEST) in July 2011 as Head of Monitoring and Evaluation. Before joining ACHEST, Dr. Ojoome worked as a Senior Consultant Pediatrician and Head of Department of Pediatrics and Child Health in Kampala International University teaching hospital and served as an External Examiner in Pediatrics and Child Health for Mbarara University of Science and Technology. In the Ministry of Health Uganda, Dr. Ojoome held several positions. He worked as Senior Consultant Pediatrician and Hospital Director at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in which he was responsible for managing and organizing the delivery of hospital services in general and as clinical head of Pediatrics and child health services in the hospital. Dr. Ojoome worked as Commissioner Human Resources for Health Development, and was responsible for developing capacity and evaluating performance in the sector. He also was Director of Ministry of Health - Health Manpower Development Center, responsible for in-service training programs in the country. The main responsibility was guiding training needs assessment, curricula development, monitoring implementation and evaluation. Dr. Ojoome was a member of the core staff of the Quality Assurance Program at its inception at the Ministry of Health in which he was a trainer in quality improvement workshops aimed at building capacity at the district and sub-district level to improve service delivery. Dr. Ojoome has participated in several monitoring and evaluation activities including: Development of Distance Education Mfor Tanzania, Evaluation of CDD Program in Uganda, Assessment of Basic Health Services for Kabarole District, Training Needs Assessment for South Western Districts in Uganda, Review of Irish Aid Support to PHC Training in Uganda, Review of HRH Requirements for Uganda, Review of Ministry of Health (Uganda) structure and Formulation of Human Resources for Health Policy. Dr. Ojoome holds a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery and a Master’s degree in Medicine specializing In Pediatrics both from Makerere University.
